The CatHulk

I decided to enter Game Artisan's Comic-con challenge. The requirements are that the image be a fusion of two superheroes and or villains into one. I chose Catwoman and the Incredible Hulk. It will probably change a bit before the final entry, but here it is so far. Here's an attempt to unify color a bit more and tone down the surface glow while cranking the back light. Now it's late though and my eyes are burning...so this may be a 3am mistake.

I saw a Toucan at the aquarium

This Toucan, like most aquarium jungle birds was very pretty, so I wanted to draw it. When we made it home though, the draw-urge had turned all dragon. Now that I look at it, the colors resemble a trout...which I skipped at the aquarium...

Hellima! Plus size pain!

Hellima's character sheet along with bits and pieces of the thumbnail process. Her story includes Norse-ness, giant lineage and blacksmithing...and of course killin! She was made to fit in the world of "League of Legends" (hence their background) and I see her as a tank with secondary attributes of a fighter.

Apex! The Perfect Predator

Some process shots. Hopefully the process police won't be alerted!

Lost my Blog

I couldn't remember my blog info and the email info to reset it....it feels like I have a part time job resetting passwords. Anyway here's a little bit of handy practice. Bah! looks like I missed the inside of the pinky! Plus the entire ring finger!

I can't help but overdo the pronator teres

This is a WIP from the character class I'm taking through CG Society. Katon Callaway is the teacher and does a great job. At this point I'm ready to start the final sculpt. He's only around 450k and I haven't broken symmetry yet, but I plan to give him a good rearranging. The concept is Katon's.

A little Hand Painting Practice

Hopefully I'll get around to putting this thing into a model viewer.

And now for something completely different.

Low Poly Weapon Practice

Here's a shot from Maya's viewport which is where I would update and decide the value/hue/sat of the texture. It came in at 330 triangles and has a 512x512 texture. I normally paint in 3D, but I thought I'd try to do this one completely with photoshop.

Zombie Creatures, Animal Prosthetics, Propane Swords

I wanted to put down the idea of a character who has physically superior animal parts (in this case Gorilla arms and chest with lion legs)bolted onto his limbless body. I need to put in some call outs to show how this guy works, but I think it could have some cool possibilities.

Moonkin Concept

I might as well get a post out of the concept sheet.

Moonkin 2.0

Here's the finished Moonkin Character, I want to thank my friend Pedro Bellini, an amazing technical artist, for rigging this guy from toe nails to leaves. It was a lot of fun to make and especially fun to move around. I've done some walk cycles and breathing/looking around animations, but they aren't worth viewing...it's gonna take some more practice.

The Moonkin is in Maya!

The title was going to be "Finally Final", but those are curse words for an art project. In fact just typing that has cursed this project! I can now see a spot where I can improve (there are probably lots of places for improvement, but this is just what I can see at the moment.)

Bit O' Transparency Needed

So the red will be see-through. I might duplicate the leaves around a bit more, but the paint job is done! Well, sorta...I'll do an overhead lighting pass and a darkening gradient from the feet up to add a little overall lighting.

soslow!!!

Small update...hopefully his face will read more easily when the black parts of his mustaches are transparent...if not they might have to go or shrink. I'm going to also apply a lighting and ao pass/attempt plus a dark gradient from the feet up and hopefully those passes will also help contrast and readability.

"Amazingly cat like"

I used to have a car with a fair bit of power. One friend used to say that driving it was like "trying to ride a mountain lion". That came into my mind the other day while looking at a four wheeler. I'm sure it's been done, but I can't remember seeing a rideable robot cat...conceptrobots.blogspot.com probably has 10 of them tucked away somewhere, but here is my quick idea for one.

Never heard of a Moonkin?

This is a WIP for my version of the WoW creature/character called the moonkin. They are pretty hilarious looking, though that hasn't stopped me from playing one, but I feel they could use a revamp. I have some concept sketches around here somewhere, but they may have been lost in a spring clean. I've probably been a little too liberal with my polycount, but since I can't find any real poly numbers for current Warcraft expansion characters....I'm winging it. Here are the current versions I'm working from.

"You can never have too many knives"

Here's a quick update on Logen 9 Fingers. Should be fun designing his many knives and the Maker's sword. From the book he seems to be a fairly pragmatic warrior which makes his "flare" a particular challenge. He doesn't wear armor, so no crazy shoulder pads, plate or chainmail. Any extras have to be useful or it wouldn't go along with his character.
