Sci-Fi...guy

Another portrait photo-bash. Thought I'd give him a cute little skirt with guns and stuff.

ratboy

Ironically I loathed collage back in school, but in Photoshop it's pretty fun.

Hulaween Votive Candles

Here are a couple illustrations I created for votive candles. They were used in table settings at Bette Midler's Hulaween party for the New York Restoration Project. Not my usual fare, but a lot of fun to make.

Never did post this guy-Hey look Velociraptorer toes!

Actually if you're a nerd like I am and pre-"Jurassic Park", you'd say "Hey look Deinonychus toes!".

So I found this old dusty blog in Grandpa's attic!

Here's a shot of a little viking character I've been working on. It's based on a concept from a Disney artist named Corey Loftis, who makes amazing characters.
This is a render from Mental Ray, no Photoshop yet, but truthfully I should be using a game engine like Marmoset to render it anyway as it is a game mesh.

I wasn't attempting to get the pose, but was required to keep him in an "A" shape for production. Kinda squashed him a bit in the process. My version looks like he just stepped off the shuttle to Jupiter.

I haven't done much 2D lately, so I thought I'd doodle something up

REDO-This guy was terrible...a product of late night arting. Hopefully this orangy version is a little...okay..er.

Werepotomas?

Being a Werehippo would make for some painful transformation, but probably a pretty fierce creature. Think about it, a Hippo supposedly the most dangerous animal in Africa hidden within some regular person walking amongst us. Said person feels a little funny, breaks a sweat, the clouds roll by to reveal a full moon or maybe a full belly and then bam WereHippo! Run for your lives! Much scarier than a wolf in my opinion.

Portfolio project #1

I thought I'd try to detail out a previous concept of mine and then try to 3d-ify it.

"7, 1hour sculpts per week" the man said

For my creature class we have to sculpt a 1 hour bust every day of a human mixed with 1 animal that we choose at the beginning of the week. I chose a Sun Bear. Hopefully they all don't end up looking the same in the end, but we'll see. I'm a bit rusty on my zbrushing so don't get your hopes up...keep them small, "maybe the size of a small pony".

Not my model, not my normal map or diffuse map and no it's not me.

But it is my Subsurfacescatter shader...settings.

You eye ballin me!? Pass the visine.

Sadly, I did not put an environment around these guys to show how reflective and juicy they are...so they appear to be suffering from a little dry eye as well as disembodiment.

Here's a simple version of an ipod shuffle which I then converted to ncloth, dropped and made into what hopefully looks like a huge melting ipod shuffle. It's a commentary on man's....blahblah...lahblah..technology...globalmelting...it actually just reminded me of a melting pile of cold so I tried to go that route.

Something to do during "The Bachelor"

Oh Brad, if you end up with Chantelle you're making a big mistake!

No sleep and no video games make nate...something something

I recently pulled a 27 hour straight (well I did stop to eat, nothing interferes with that) maya session in order to have an assignment ready for a class..that class was 3 hours long and is followed by yet another 3 hour class. In order to keep from falling completely asleep at my desk, I decided to do this painting. So there wasn't much thought or planning involved. Looking at it now, there are plenty of problems, but hey-it kept me awake.

roots

Back when I first tried to use a computer for doodling and before I tried a pen tablet, the only thing I knew how to use was the lasso tool and the paint bucket. So I thought I'd do a quick alien for old times' sake. Pretty fun.

A Team Weapons

I sometimes wonder, while perusing a Walmart or Home Depot, just what kind of weapons I could MacGyver together if I had to. If the world outside the store had suddenly become hostile and my only chance to survive lay between the home improvement and automotive aisles.

Skullduggery?

This is an exercise from my zbrush anatomy class...we were only required to sculpt the major muscle masses...so I apologize to you Mentalis/Triangularis fansmmmm-glaben!

Adv digital painting-wip

When aliens invade and the national guard is spread too thinly...it'll be the rednecks that save us all. The protagonist here however is the woosbag (thanks a lot spellcheck) of truck'n'gunland. With no truck and no gun he suits up at walmart to save the world.

"In the round" (what a, pinky out, phrase)

Rawr! Dragon!

This was the final for my intro to Zbrush class. I Should be posting a bit more regularly this term as the last was full of technical assignment mumbo-jumbo.
