Burrowing owls

Photobucket
I still like the idea of a Burrowing owl and Prairie dog duo, so I'm still trying out different looks. I'm thinking the bird needs to be less shapely, maybe even just one shape from head to tail.

Day dreaming at work?

For Figure drawing we were asked to create a scene with at least 3 figures in it. I had a lot of fun with the colored executioner, but I wish I'd taken more time integrating the little dancing executioners.

Bears are always fun

Photobucket
The movie "The Bear" was one of my favorites as a kid.

It's been a while

Photobucket
This is my take on the idea of a hunchback....I haven't really decided on the time or place he exists in yet.

Splitting Hairs

Photobucket
I haven't seen it on a cartoon for a while, but I swear they used to show how sharp swords and axes were by splitting a hair over the blade.

Needs a name

Photobucket
A friend in my BFA class suggested I create a superhero cowboy; here's a quick portrait, but I'm still working out his super powers. I was thinking of making him a pujalist who can whip anyone but for balance is also the worlds worst aim when it comes to guns. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm also still working on the name, maybe Lowl or Glen.

zoning

Photobucket
Some guy I imagined up that's in his own little world.

Shadow

Photobucket
I painted this prairie dog and owl sketch for my illustration class. These guys are a little different looking from the running characters a few posts ago, but I kinda like the fat version of the rodent; I'm still working on a unique look for the owl, this one is still kinda generic. I wanted the snake's shadow (the shadow is supposed to belong to a rattlesnake, btw) to look as if it was correctly being cast across the ground, grass and animals but didn't want it to be lost as it transitioned and not look like a snake.

Babyface

Photobucket
I drew this guy while I sat across from a pudgey faced kid at my work. I admit I have some rather nerdy tendancies when it comes to entertainment and so I can't wait for the new "Hobbit" movie. This is my attempt at a battle worn hobbit....rawr!

Grrrilla

Photobucket
I recently watched the fight scene with King Kong and the dinosaurs in "King Kong" so I had to make a drawring. I like him positioned over to the left but wonder if some scenery would help.

Venom

Photobucket
Venom has got to be my favorite villain and definitely the Todd Mcfarlane version, not the Topher Grace one. I realize this Venom has way too much aqua instead of black....but for some reason I felt like goin with the aqua.

Graveyard Job=Olympics Overload

Lots of Olympic events to watch from 12am-4am. After watching the women's discus throw I felt some characters were in order; some of those gals were real powerhouses. The guy who is stretching is wearing the new tear-drop shaped superrunfast suit. I get a kick out of all the technology that goes into some of the Olympic outfits, this one obviously won't be helping.
P.S. The big fat guy is a weightlifter.

Run!

Photobucket
I'm working on a series of situations containing a prairie dog and a burrowing owl. During my usual Discovery channel-a-thon I learned they sometimes hang out in the same burrow. So I thought that could make for some funny drawings, most of which involve running away from danger. So here is the first.

My take on the Hulk

Photobucket
I like to try and create my own versions of things. Here is my start on the Hulk. Is it me or does the one in the middle have a little Kevin Nealon quality? So far my money is on the lower left corner but I hope to do a few more versions.

Trying to learn digital painting

Photobucket
I doodled this one up at work and thought I could use it for some digital painting practice. If anybody knows of a good link for brush creating tutorials I'm all ears.

Prairie Doggin it

Photobucket
This was for a school assignment that required 2 animals interacting and rendered in colored pencil. I'm not a fan of colored pencils but I had fun making it.

Excited for the Dark Knight

batman
I realized that I've never tried drawing Batman. So here it is, I may paint it later because right now it might be a little hard to figure out.

Star Wars

Gardner
I recently watched the Star Wars prequels and needed to draw an alien.

Just a recent sketch
