bearborne

Photobucket
I decided to try out the digital oil brushes on Corel Painter. This is actually only part of the painting I'm doing. I hope to have the bear chasing a squirrel and a bird for stealing his berries....I really just wanted to paint them all together, so the berries just kinda give the bear a motive.

Landscapesmanshippery

Photobucket
I once heard that you can tell in what area an artist is weak by what is left out of their pictures. I seem to leave the background out a lot, so I bought a landscape-how to book- and am giving it a try...not that all backgrounds are landscapes, but I'm banking that a lot of the same rules and methods apply.
Ah crap, apparently I over compensated for the curve of the earth here, lol. I'm gonna need to level out that stream a wee bit.

Disclaimer: I'm on the second chapter, so hopefully by the end things will be looking better.

"Do the interns get Glocks?"

Photobucket
I thought I'd try a portrait since it's been a while. I like some of the colors, but I'm gonna need a bit more practice, so there will probably be a lot more portraits in the future. This is supposed to be Bill Murray and man he's getting old, which pains me because he is a genius.

Grrilla vs Contractor

Photobucket
I used to do a lot of drawings like this using the free hand tool in Illustrator. I didn't know how to use the pen tool at the time and so it was pretty time consuming using a jumpy mouse in the computer lab at Weber. I'm very spoiled now with a wacom tablet and Corel Painter. As for the content...I wanted to draw a gorilla and didn't think much further than that.
